Samara is a city on the Volga River in Russia. I visited this building when I was in Samara last year. They organize different concerts and exhibitions in this builing. I liked it there.

The Little Mermaid
Hello all friends from Russia, thank you for your letters.
I will write about The Little Mermaid. The Little Mermaid is a Statue in Copenhagen. The Little Mermaid is a very important Statue for Denmark. The Little Mermaid was on a little trip to China one year ago. H.C Andersen has written a story called The Little Mermaid. The statue is 125 cm high and weighs 175 kilo. It was set up in 1913 the 23rd of August.

The Egtved Girl
The Egtved Girl is one of the best known figures from the Danish history. She lived in the Bronze Age. She was buried in Egtved and lies now at the National Museum. They found her bones and her hair and her skin. She was 16-18 before she died. There was a 6-year-old child together with her in the grave. The hill was 22 meter in diameter and 4 meter in height. Egtved is only 16 kilometres from us.
Danish food
We have lot of typical Danish food for instance red sausages, open sandwiches, potatoes and brown sauce. There is also roast pork with parsley sauce and it tastes really good. Roast pork and duck eat we when it is Christmas time. We eat meatballs in curry.

Football/soccer
Football is a national sport in Denmark. Our Football league is called Super-league. We have one football team which is in Champions-League. The name of the football team is: FC Copenhagen. FC Copenhagen has beaten the Russian football team Robin Kazan in Champions-League. FC Copenhagen was equal to FC Barcelona in a 1-1 match. Besides being in the Champions League they are also Danish champions. FCK have some arch rivals and it is Broendby and Broendby is number 4 in our league. FcK is also called the white lions.

Prince Joakim and Princess Marie
Margrethe and Henrik have another son and his name is Joachim. His birthday is June 7th. Joachim has a wife and her name is Marie. She comes from France. Her birthday is February 5th. Joachim has been married to Alexandra. But they are divorced. Together they have two children. She´s not more part of the royal family. Nikolai is son of Prince Joachim and Alexandra. He´s 11 years old. Joachim and Alexandra´s other son is called Felix. He´s 8 years old. Joachim and Marie have alittle son and hiss name is Henrik. Hiss birthday is May 4th 2009.

The Jelling Stones
There are two special stones in Jelling. They are set up by Harald Blåtand, in English Harald Bluetooth, who was the first king in Denmark. There is a little stone and a bigger stone. The big stone was set up between 960 and 985. Harald Bluetooth set them up as a memory for his parents. On the big stone is written :
King Harold does these runes after his father, Gorm and after his mother Thyra, the Harold who won all Denmark and Norway and made the Danes Christians”
Beside the big stones side stands a smaller stone. That stone was set up about 955. On the little stone is written : King Gorm made this monument after Thyra his wife” . These stones are very important.

Thank you for the present. Christmas was a very nice time for me. Together with my family we visited my grandparents, and I got very nice presents, and very good food to eat. In Denmark we have had a lot of snow. More than we use to. I have made a small igloo together with my sister. We had fun but now the snow is gone.
A week from now we have school holiday, I am going to visit my grandparents in Aarhus. Aarhus is the second largest city in Denmark.

Dear Russian pen friends . In Denmark we dance around the Christmas tree. And when we are dancing around the Christmas tree we are also singing. We are singing: “silent nigth ”, “a child was born in Bethlehem” and “Now it´s Christmas again” and many other Christmas carols! We put a star on the top of the tree. We also put present under the tree. When we come to December we are decorating are houses, with pixies, Candles, and other Christmas decorations.

In Denmark we have an advent calendar in TV, and a chocolate advent calendar, which we open every day up to Christmas. We have also a stocking for presents. The Santa Claus come and put presents in the stocking. Someone get presents in the stocking every day up to Christmas, and other persons have a present every Sunday up to Christmas.
In Denmark we called Santa Claus: julemand.

Like this we are celebrating Christmas in Denmark:
We are celebrating Jesus’ birthday on the 24th of December. Most of us are going to church in the afternoon. Jesus was born in Betlehem. But Pontius Pilatus were hanging him on the cross later. Most of our churches are many hundred years old. A few of our churches is nearly 1.000 years old. We are dancing around the tree in the evening and then we get presents. Some of the presents are very big and expensive others are small and cheap. The small one is very cozy. The expensive presents can be: A mobile or a remote controlled car or upgrades to it and many other things. The smaller presents can be: a teddybear, socks, other clothes and very much more.

Santa Claus
Santa Claus has red clothes and a pixy hat. Santa Claus has a big stomach, white beard and black boots. When Santa Claus flies out the 24th of December his sleigh is pulled by eight reindeers. On Christmas Eve Santa Claus is flying out and giving presents to all the sweet children. The one with the present are just a story. We also get presents from our family. Do you also use Santa Claus as a tradition? Do you have pixies? Do you get advent presents?
Pixies
Here in Denmark we have pixies and some families use the pixies in the house. Some families have a pixie who lives on the loft and sometimes they tease us. Pixies have a red pointed hat and a white beard and some pixies have red clothes on. The people here in Denmark give the pixies rice pudding and sometimes Christmas beer. Some people get presents when the pixie has teased them.
